Alex Whittle

Born in Lima, Peru, I’ve travelled my entire life and have stories to tell, I am a classic 3rd culture child. Finally settling in the Sottish borders with my family and 4 children. Ive been taking images since 6, but unrealised, I attending the London School of Printing-  Professional photography and dove into image creation.

Ive been a freelancer in the film industry for over 20 years and am highly experienced. This experience includes directing and producing, photography, creative thinking and storytelling.
He set up New Light Studio as independent film company based in the Scottish Borders. New Light Studio’s USP is to produce Long form Documentaries that focus on social, environmental and humanitarian led issues.

Alex has directed & produced 3 feature length documentaries. Brave Blue World on 2019 on Netflix and Lava Bombs 2022 on Amazon. He EP’d the follow up to Lava Bombs which has just finished production and being realised on the International festival circuit. Alex has slate of 5 more films in development, including Aye been Biking: a feature documentary that has just starting production.
